The Newtown Blue Stockings were defeated by New Milford 5-2 in 13U Connecticut Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament on July 11.

New Milford grabbed the lead in the third inning but Newtown tied the game on a single by Chad Argraves scoring Matt Lokey in the fifth. New Milford scored four in the bottom of the fifth. The Blue Stockings put one more run across the plate on a sacrifice fly by Ben Carley, scoring Charlie Curtis, in the top of the sixth.

With the loss, the Blue Stockings are out of the double-elimination tournament, but not without having put up quite an effort. After defeating Danbury 9-1 in the first round, the Blue Stockings fell 9-4 to Milford. In must-win games the rest of the way, the Blue Stockings were clutch in defeating East Lyme 9-7 and Stamford 9-1 to get to within just one win of the championship round.

New Milford advances to take on Milford for the title. The Blue Stockings will participate in the Greater Hudson Valley League in late July and early August.
