NASHVILLE, TENN. — A Nashville, Tenn., television station has reported that Robbie Bruce, the co-founder of an organization created in the wake of 12/14 to raise funds for those directly affected by the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, will cooperate fully with authorities who are investigating claims that he misappropriated $73,000.

WKRN-TV Nashville said Mr Bruce released a statement on January 17, through his attorney, Jonathan Framer. The statement said: “We will cooperate fully with the inquiries made by the state of Tennessee and look forward to the opportunity to do so. For the immediate future all of our communications will be with the appropriate state agencies.”

Mr Bruce and Ryan Graney formed 26.4.26 Foundation, with the intent to raise funds through marathons. runners to participate in marathons, raising money for each of the 26 miles they ran and dedicating each mile to one of the 26 victims of the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

Ms Graney told the Associated Press on January 10 that only $30,000 of the $103,000 taken in by the 26.4.26 Foundation was used for the organization’s purpose. That money was presented last January by Mr Bruce to NYA Sports & Fitness Center in Newtown.

Ms Graney said she confronted Mr Bruce and he promised to meet her and go over the organization’s finances. She said he never showed up and then cut off contact with her in September. Ms Graney said the foundation, registered as a nonprofit corporation in Tennessee, had virtually no overhead or other expenses that would justify not giving the vast majority of the proceeds to the people of Newtown.

She said she filed complaints with the FBI and the Tennessee attorney general’s office. Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen also joined the investigation, as did the IRS.
