Labels Plus Tags, a fashion resale outlet, opened at 10 Glen Road, Saturday, October 26. The store had a soft, one-day opening as part of the October 12 SHOP event, said owner Christine Ruzek, and she was overwhelmed by the positive response.

Labels Plus Tags is a source of gently used or new clothing “only in pristine condition,” for men, women, and children. Everyday and work styles, outerwear, shoes, boots, formal wear, maternity clothes, and accessories can be found in the four rooms of the antique home located just at the edge of Sandy Hook Center.

Ms Ruzek also features jewelry from two local jewelry artists, and hopes to carry a line of artisan-created children’s clothing and purses in the near future.

Her business is a double homecoming, said Ms Ruzek, who moved back to Sandy Hook from Los Angeles and New York City three months ago. Not only did she live in Sandy Hook until she was 6 years old, and continued visiting regularly after that, but 10 Glen Road is the house in which she lived as a child.

“I was ready to come home. I had a great idea, and the space became available,” said Ms Ruzek, who previously worked as a corporate recruiter for creative businesses, and in the advertising business. “Labels Plus Tags goes right along with my ‘ecofabulous’ philosophy,” she said. “There are things in peoples’ closets that somebody else could love, instead of being thrown out,” Ms Ruzek said.

As a young businesswoman, she has always realized how expensive it can be to keep up with fashions. Labels Plus Tags can help in that department, she said, as well as give families the opportunity to purchase top quality items 30 to 50 percent off of store prices, she said. Sellers receive 30 percent cash for what she buys, or 50 percent of the item’s value in store credit.

Labels Plus Tags purchases clothing outright “from your closet,” including vintage pieces. All items must be newly cleaned, and in perfect condition. Ms Ruzek also “shops closets” with her connections all over Fairfield County and New York City to fill the racks in the store.

“I’ve always wanted to help build up Sandy Hook Center. I hope people come here to shop in Sandy Hook; it’s so charming,” said Ms Ruzek.

Labels Plus Tags is open now through the holidays, seven days of the week, from 8 am to 7 pm. To stay up to date on store hours and special events, visit www.Facebook.com/LabelsPlusTags or follow Ms Ruzek on Twitter at LabelsPlusTags.

Labels Plus Tags will host “Spirit Week” from Saturday, November 23, through Sunday, December 1. That week, college students wearing school gear will receive an additional five percent discount. All college students with ID receive a ten percent discount.
