Business Buzz: Ronnie's II

It is a little bit fate and a little bit of a homecoming for Ron Provenzano of Ronnie’s II, a hair salon for men, women, and children.

Ronnie’s II, the sister salon to Mr Provenzano’s Westport salon, Ronnie’s, opened at 117A Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center, April 1. The hair stylist had been seeking a location for a second salon prior to this spring, when he drove through Sandy Hook Center and spotted the “For Rent” sign on the door.

“I rented it on the spot!” exclaimed Mr Provenzano. The space is the very location of the Sandy Hook Barbershop owned by his grandfather in the late 1920s, and just across the street from where his uncle, John Provenzano, later operated the barbershop, into the mid-1990s, he said. “I was hoping to find a place in northern Fairfield County, and I’m looking forward to meeting new Sandy Hook and Newtown clients,” Mr Provenzano said.

Three chairs, two stylists in addition to the owner, an experienced colorist, and a master barber on staff mean that there is rarely a long wait at Ronnie’s II. The open space lit by natural light flowing through the front window, and decorated with historical paraphernalia, provides a comfortable atmosphere.

Mr Provenzano sees Sandy Hook Center as a revitalized area, and has great hopes for the future of the Center. “I feel like my ancestors are here with me, and it’s all going to be all right,” he said.

The draw to Ronnie’s II, he said, is the bargain $10 price for haircuts, whether for men, women, or children. That price, which he said is not merely a promotional price, includes razor cuts for men. Ronnie’s II is also pleased to feature Goldwell products for highlights and lowlights.

Good haircuts at good prices, for the whole family, Mr Provenzano said, are what will bring in repeat customers.

“I love people; I’m a people person. When I make a difference in someone’s life for those six weeks between haircuts,” he said, “it makes me feel great.”

Ronnie’s II is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

To make an appointment, call 203-341-2101. Walk-ins are welcome at any time.
