The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present its 49th Annual Juried Spring Art Show and Sale at a new location this year: Art & Frame, 77 Main Street (Route 25), May 4-18.

Regional artists are invited submit work to be considered for the exhibition. Media accepted into the show will include works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media (including collage). Receiving is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 3 to 6 pm, at Art & Frame.

Artists can submit up to two works for consideration. Fees are $30 for the first entry for nonmembers and $10 for the second ($5 and $10, respectively, for SCAN members). Artists should visit scanart.org to obtain the prospectus or receive an entry form at delivery.

Jurors for selection and awards are nationally known artists Bivenne Harvey Staiger, Peter Seltzer, and Susan Grisell.

The annual Larry Newquist Award for Excellence/Best in Show prize for $600 and numerous other prizes (totaling $2,000) will be announced during at the show reception, scheduled for Saturday, May 4, from 5 to 7 pm. The awards presentation is scheduled for 6 pm.

The public is invited to the reception. Light refreshments will be served.

The public is also invited to visit the exhibition during the run of the show. Hours will be Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.
