Campus Notes

Melissa A. Grossman, daughter of John and Gail [Carboy] and granddaughter of Robert and Annamae Grossman, is currently interning at the Connecticut General Assembly in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. She is working for Representative Gary Orefice (D-37 East Lyme and Salem] and the Insurance and Real Estate Committee.

Melissa will be graduating this May from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Political Science.

Michael Rostafin was among the recipients of the George C. Textor Memorial Scholarship for Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. The Textor scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate meritorious academic performance.

Michael is majoring in music education at Ithaca’s School of Music. While at college, he has been a member of the Symphonic Band, Chorus, Concert Band and Brass Choir.

Mark S. Walrath began studies at St Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., last month. He attended Oxford University in England during the fall of 2003.

The following students received Dean’s List honors for the fall 2003 semester from the following colleges or universities:

Sarah Sampson, daughter of William and Robin Sampson of Sandy Hook from the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine. She is a 2002 graduate of Newtown High School.

 Jeff Shpunt from Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vt.

Christopher D. Thompson from Boston University in Boston, Mass.

Jennie L. Nowacki of Sandy Hook, Katrina Buyers, Michael James English, Lesley Ann Janutolo, Jennipher Sozon Lavorato and Janine Maura Pixley from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

Alexandra Gellert and Jessica Horvath from Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.
