On December 12, The Joy of Yoga Nidra with Joy Hoffman invites the Newtown community to a special candlelit music and Yoga Nidra memorial marking six years since 12/14.

All are invited to meet in the sanctuary of Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, from 5:45 to 7 pm.

Grammy Award-winning singer-song writer Les Julian will perform instrumental guitar music. His performances showcase his award-winning original songs and illuminate universal themes of human life while celebrating the diversity of the world through music.

French cellist Lucas de Valdivia will also perform. Mr de Valdivia teaches throughout Fairfield County. In his youth, he studied with Lois Errante and Asya Meshburg. He is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Ole Akahoshi, and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he studied with Ross Harbaugh.

Ann Cote will be performing on the piano and singing “I Can Only Imagine.” Ms Cote has been singing and playing the piano since the age of six. She began singing in church choirs at her home congregation in Bridgeport. She taught Sunday School music for more than ten years at Salem Lutheran Church.

In addition, Abbie Fricker, the director of synergy at The Avielle Foundation, will speak on behalf of the Richman family.

Yoga Nidra (sleep yoga) is a practice that takes the participant into a deeply restorative state of calm tranquility. Class is taught through visualization and guided imagery.

There are no yoga postures. Those planning to attend should bring one yoga mat, two blankets, and one eye pillow with them.
