The National Weather Service in Upton, N.Y., has extended the flash flood warning for southern Fairfield County until 6 pm Tuesday, September 25. At 3:37 pm Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area, according to the National Weather

2018 Firehouse Ride Will Continue Hook & Ladder Fundraising Efforts

The public is invited to join the 2018 Firehouse Ride on Saturday, September 29. The ninth annual Newtown Hook & Ladder fundraising event will again be offering music, food, raffle prizes, and a meandering 50-mile motorcycle ride through neighboring towns.

Two Patients Rescued From Roof

Newtown police and the Botsford Fire Rescue Company responded September 19 to The Commons at Newtown/Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center at 139 Toddy Hill Road on a report that there were two elderly patients on the roof of a building there.

Volunteer Parents, Girls’ Soccer Fans, Opponents Make March Of Dimes Fundraiser A Success

There was no on-field winner or loser when the Newtown High School girls’ soccer team tied visiting Pomperaug of Southbury 1-1, at Blue & Gold Stadium on September 11. But, for Newtown Coach Marc Kenney and his family, the volunteer parents and fans who supported the team’s annual March of Dimes fundraiser were the true winners of the night.

Fire/CO Alarms Available From Fire Marshal

The town fire marshal’s office has a supply of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors available for free to residents who are unable to purchase such safety devices, according to Fire Marshal Rich Frampton.
