WOODBURY â New Morning Natural & Organic will offer its annual wine and cheese event, celebrating local artisans, on Thursday, November 9, at The Old Woodbury Town Hall. The event will run from 6 to 8 pm.
New Morningâs Executive Chef Carol Byer-Alcorace will offer crowd-pleasing seasonal treats from the Provender-New Morningâs catering and food-to-go department. Hilary Hopkins of Hopkins Vineyard and Mary Kay Brown of Organic Vintages will bring spicy local, organic and low sulfite wines; Cato Corner Farms will have nationally acclaimed farmstead cheeses from their free range Jersey cows; creamy goat cheeses from Beltane Farm in Lebanon will be complimented by Bantam Bread Companyâs savory, crusty, whole grain breads; and hot and fair trade beverages will be on tap, courtesy of Naren Sonpal of Coffee-Tea-Etc. Woodbury musician Dirck Westervelt, a versatile all-around master performer, has lived in Bamako, Mali, and Zimbabwe, learning from the masters. He will be accompanying Abdoulaye Alhassane, a member of the Songhai of Niger who is a composer, singer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist of international note. They will perform on guitar, banjo and traditional instruments.
