Clam Diggers Band Tuesday—

Summer Concerts & Dances Continue At The Homesteads

The Homesteads at Newtown is presenting its 3rd Annual Summer Concert Series this summer, with music for every taste. At most of these concerts, patrons will have the opportunity to dance to the beautiful music under the stars in The Homesteads’ lovely main courtyard (or in the dramatic Panoramic Dining Room in the event of rain).

Refreshments and seating will be provided.

All performances are free and are on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, rain or shine. The summer lineup also includes dancing on August 3 and August 31.

The 2004 series will continue August 3 with a performance by Clam Diggers Dixieland Band.

Performing American standards with a Dixieland style, this band has delighted audiences for over 35 years including a recent reception for the President of the United States.

They are favorites throughout New England and the New York metropolitan area, including Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, the Barnum Festival, Yale University events, and aboard Camelot Cruise Lines.

Leader Charlie Salerno, a jazz guitarist/banjo player hailing from the “Clam Town” section of New Haven, promises to “bring back happy memories and leave you with a smile on your face.”

Clam Diggers vocalist Kyle Sherwood Ralston is a multi-talented performer and stage veteran. She appeared in the Broadway revival of The Sound of Music and in regional theater throughout the US and Canada.  A member of a large show business family from Fairfield and a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NYC, Ms Ralston has been featured singing and dancing on network TV and at the Las Vegas Hilton. She is known for her rousing version of “Cabaret” or a comical “Second Hand Rose,” and often surprises the crowd with a tap dancing number or a lively Charleston.

Upcoming performances will continue on August 17 with the captivating, imaginative and unforgettable tuba-flute duo Double Play. These musicians offer “classical yet innovative music with an unexpected twist.”

The final concert will be by The Jeff McGill Quartet on August 31. This group offers the velvet virtuosity of pianist Jeff McGill with his incomparable ensemble.

Reservations are requested if possible; call 426-8118. The Homesteads at Newtown is at 166 Mt. Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Newtown, near I-84 Exit 9.
