Club Will Offer Program On Jekyll Gardens

WOODBURY — The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club will meet at the Emergency Services Building on Quassuk Road on Tuesday, February 8.

Laurie Clement-Lawrason, the garden curator since 1994 of the Gertrude Jekyll Gardens at the Glebe House Museum, will be the featured speaker.

Her presentation will cover Gertrude Jekyll’s influence on garden design, her association with the Glebe House Museum, and the establishment of the Jekyll Garden at the Glebe House. The Woodbury landmark is the only extant Jekyll designed garden in America.

Arrangements to attend “Impressions 2000,” The Connecticut Flower and Garden Show at The Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford on February 17 to 20 will also be discussed. The flower show section of the event is planned by members of The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc

The public is welcome to attend garden club programs, free of charge.
