Newtown Interfaith Council (NIC) has announced it will present a community gathering this weekend.

All are invited to be together in the midst of grief, to find peace and support.

The gathering is planned for Sunday, March 31, at 3 pm. It will be at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

In an email blast Friday afternoon, NIC explained the event was being planned "given recent events within and beyond our town that have affected many of us deeply, NIC invites any who wish to come join us as we acknowledge our grief, affirm our connectedness, commit ourselves to the care of one another and our community."  

The council is asking that all media respect the privacy of those attending.

“Please do not bring recording devices of any type,” the group posted on Trinity Episcopal Church’s Facebook page Friday morning.
