Connecticut Spokebenders Game, Fundraiser Set
The Connecticut Spokebenders, a wheelchair basketball team that is part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association, is set to visit Newtown High School on Friday, May 31, at 7 pm, to hold a basketball game.
The event will be open to the public and was set up by NHS student Charlotte Gray as part of her Junior/Senior Project this semester.
According to Charlotte all of the proceeds from the event will be go to the Connecticut Spokebenders, a nonprofit organization, to help cover the cost of wheel chairs for those in need. Charlotte says a single wheel chair can cost $5,000.
While the event is free, a $5 donation is being suggested to help raise money. The event will take place in the NHS gymnasium.
