ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

MIND TYDES will be playing this Saturday (July 11) at Madison Park in Hartford

during the Ski & Wake Board Championships. This is the day-long thing with

HEATHER NOVA headlining. Entertainment for the festival is being hosted by

radio 104, and the skiing is being taken care of by ESPN. If you are on your

way to Hartford for the LILITH FESTIVAL on Saturday, why not swing by the park

first and give the Newtown guys some support?

The band is working on booking another date soon for Tuxedo Junction in

Danbury. Details to follow...

Speaking of Tuxedo Junction, the club has a handful of new shows on its

schedule (and subsequently this one, of course), including another return to

the 80s. This month, shows just added include MONSTER MAGNET, July 22, with

Far and Second Coming (all ages, 7 pm start time); and July 26, THE PIETASTERS

headline a show that also includes Skinnerbox and Sgt Scagnetti (also all

ages, also 7 pm).

In August, RATT returns to the Danbury club. This time the band will be around

on Monday, August 3 -- an interesting, quiet night for a concert... Having

played Toad's Place a few months ago, OVERKILL is also returning to the area,

this time on Thursday, August 6 for a show in Danbury.

And in September, the aforementioned flashback show: THE KNACK, on Sunday,

September 6. Tickets for all of these shows are on sale now; the August and

September dates are 21-and-over only. Tuxedo Junction can be reached by

calling 748-2561.

SPRING HEELED JACK is about the hit the road again, with the release of its

second album. Songs From Suburbia will be released July 21 (watch for a story

next week; Mike Pellegrino rang in this week to say Hi before he and the band

hit the road again), and a big CD release party is being planned for Saturday,

July 25 at Tune Inn in New Haven.

MOPPIN SAUCE has another two shows to announce. The band will be at Fat

Daddy's in Watertown next weekend, on Saturday the 18th, and then at Boppers

in Danbury on Saturday, July 25.

Tickets for ROD STEWART next week at the Meadows are still available, probably

because they're so expensive! Stewart will be kicking off his world tour --

and maybe even a soccer ball or two -- at the Hartford venue on Wednesday,

July 15. Remaining tickets for the 8 pm concert are $45 for the pavilion, $25

for the lawn (the really-close-to-the-stage $75 tickets have sold out).

Both DAVE MATTHEWS SHOWS have sold out, July 31 and August 1.

Tickets will be going on sale Saturday morning (July 11) at 10 am for the

return of AEROSMITH to the Meadows. The band will be back this summer on

Saturday, August 22. No opener has been announced yet.

This Saturday is also the Hartford return of LILITH FAIR, the traveling

festival of female musicians (although some have male musicians in their

bands) in a wide range of styles. This year's itinerary was put together to

include some cities that were missed last year, and artists were added to the

lineup to make the musical offerings more eclectic.

A few notes about the Hartford show, which will be getting underway around

4:30 Saturday afternoon. First of all, a line-up change was announced

Wednesday morning: ME'SHELL NDEGEOCELLO has been added to Saturday's bill,

LAUREN HILL will not be appearing.

There are still three stages this year, with the Village Stage an acoustic

setup. There were rumors Sarah McLachlan was going to show up on the stage in

a surprise performance at last year's tour stop in Hartford, but that never

happened; maybe she'll show up this year. GARRISON STARR is scheduled to be

the final performance on the Village Stage; July 11 is the only date Starr

will be playing this year on Lilith.

On the Second Stage, the first act is still to be announced, to be followed by

IMANI COPPOLA and then HEATHER NOVA. Nova's a question right now, however,

because she is also due to perform across the city at the earlier-mentioned

Ski & Wake Board Championships. On the Main Stage, the performances will begin

with TRACY BONHAM, and run with Ndegeocello, BONNIE RAITT, NATALIE MERCHANT,

and finally SARAH McLACHLAN.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.

Newtown 06470, or shannon @thebee.com. Include a phone number for

confirmation, please . If you don't have a stamp or a piece of paper or a

writing utensil that works, give me a call! Phone number at the office is

426-3141. Shows listed on the calendar at club locations are for ages 21 and

over unless specified.
