Despite schools being closed for the day, Newtown High School’s fall drama production will open tonight.

Following the cancellation of the opening night November 15 performance of The Crucible, opening night was postponed to Friday, November 16. The Newtown Bee has been notified that the curtain will indeed go up tonight, at 7 pm, as planned.

Newtown High School students will continue performances on Saturday, November 17, also at 7 pm, and then Sunday, November 18, at 2 pm.

Tickets are $7 for students, $10 for senior citizens, and $12 for adults. Tickets will be sold at the door, 12 Berkshire Road.

NHS theater and language arts teacher Janice Gabriel is advising the production with NHS choral director Jane Matson and Sarah Desrosiers. The production is student run. It is being directed by students Emma Stierle and Sarah Grant. Student Kayla Verga is producing the play, and student Jessica Andreotta is the production’s assistant director.
