Eat, Drink, And Have Fun At Tavern

Published: November 17, 2017 at 12:00 am

Tavern has been serving in Monroe for four years and is conveniently located on Route 25, making it the perfect spot for grabbing a drink or a bite to eat with friends, colleagues, or family.

Owner Rob Ryder created Tavern as a place where people can come to eat, drink, and have fun. That vision turned into the philosophy of Tavern.

Guests can sit and relax in Tavern's main dining room area, enjoying the large stone fireplace showcased in the center of the room. Along with the bar, and patio during the warmer weather, there are two separate rooms for dining. The Barrel Room seats about 40 patrons and is decorated with authentic Jack Daniels barrels from the distillery. The private party room, located to the left of the restaurant's entryway, is perfect for large groups looking to make reservations.

With reasonable price points and a friendly atmosphere, Tavern serves up great gastropub cuisine that is always prepared fresh. Tavern also has an extensive beer list.

"We feature weekly specials that steer more toward the gastropub concept," said Mr Ryder. "We also try to utilize local produce and farms as much as possible."

Tavern can also cater events and has a number of buffet options, as well as the flexibility for patrons to design their catering menu.

A Sample Of The Menu

Appetizers: Tavern has more than ten small plate options, known as "Shareables," on the menu. The Buffalo or Bourbon BBQ wings come with celery, carrots, and bleu cheese.

Salads: The chicken and apple salad is made with grilled chicken, apple, dried cranberries, celery, candied walnuts, greens, and bleu cheese, with a balsamic vinaigrette.

Burgers: The signature burger, The Tavern, has bourbon-glazed onions, smoked bacon, cheddar, smoked mayo, lettuce, tomato, housemade pickles, on brioche. All burgers are made fresh from meat ground daily and are served with hand-cut fries or a choice of side. Burgers at Tavern can also be prepared gluten-free.

Brunch: On Sundays, the Tavern Bottomless Brunch special includes the choice of one entree and endless Bloody Marys or Mimosas. A standout brunch option is Tavern French Toast that is a rich and creamy challa bread French toast, coated in banana and walnut maple syrup, with whipped cream.

Sandwiches: Among the different sandwiches, is The Dublin Dip. It includes Guinness braised beef, caramelized onions, American cheese, horseradish aioli, au jus, and ciabatta.

Entrees: Known as "no bun" meals on the menu, a popular dish is the steak, fish, or shrimp tacos served with sour cream, coleslaw, pico de gallo, and choice of one side.

Sides: There are more than ten different side options available, including Yukon gold mashed potatoes, green beans, hand-cut french fries, and garden fresh salad.

Kids' Menu: Tavern has a kids' menu. Each meal includes a beverage and daily vegetable or housemade chips. On Tuesdays, one kids meal comes free with the purchase of an adult entree, starting at 4 pm.

Dessert: Some dessert highlights are the milk and cookies, which comes with four freshly baked chocolate chip cookies served with ice cold milk, and also the ice cream sandwich, consisting of chocolate chip cookies filled with vanilla ice cream and rolled in Heath bar crunch.

Drinks: Happy Hour is Monday through Friday, from 4 to 7 pm, in the bar area. A customer favorite specialty cocktail is Tavern Tea, which consists of Smirnoff citrus, sweet tea vodka, lemonade, iced tea, and fresh lemon served in a mason jar. Also, the Ruby Red Martini with Smirnoff ruby red grapefruit, Cointreau, cranberry, fresh lime juice, and a sugared rim is a popular drink at Tavern. On Thursdays, after 4 pm, martinis are just $5.
