Newtown High School has scheduled an evening orientation event for eighth grade students and their parents for Wednesday, February 11.

The event will begin at 5, when tours will be offered by NHS HAWKS Honor Society members. Tours will run every 15 minutes and will last approximately 45 minutes.

An elective fair will also run from 5 to 7 in the school’s lobby. Booths will be set up to showcase the various electives that are offered to freshmen at the school. In addition, for those interested in learning more about athletics at NHS, the athletic director and a panel of coaches/team captains will be presenting from 6 to 6:45 in the school’s Lecture Hall.

Beginning at 7 in the auditorium, NHS freshmen school counselors and the director of school counseling will provide an overview of the course selection process, the NHS schedule and the transition from eight to ninth grade.

Administrators, department chairs, and the NHS athletic director will share important information about opportunities, course offerings, and ninth grade expectations at NHS.

A snow date for the event has been set for February 12.
