‘Elves Gone Wild:’ CGMC’S Holiday Show

The Connecticut Gay Men’s Chorus, recently voted Best Vocal Group in the 2005 Connecticut Magazine Readers’ Poll, will begin its twentieth anniversary season with Elves Gone Wild!, a tongue-in-check peek at the lives of Santa’s little helpers.

“How much do we really know about these fellows?” said Winston Clark, Music Director of CGMC. “What are their secret desires, their inner needs? Is it really all about the toys? And where do they shop for those outfits?”

In addition to traditional carols of the season, Elves Gone Wild! will also feature “guest appearances” by M. Jodi Rell, Laura Bush, and a bevy of giant dancing candy canes. Also highlighted will be an onstage salute to couples who have had civil unions this fall.

“So many of our friends have welcomed the opportunity to become ‘civilized,’ many of them couples who have been together for fifteen years or more,” said Mr Clark. “We want to make the holiday season doubly joyful by celebrating them and the law that made this happiness possible.”

Elves Gone Wild! will debut  on Saturday, December 3, at 8 pm, at Western CT State University’s White Hall, Danbury. Performance will then continue on Saturday, December 10, at 8 pm, at the Shubert Theater, New Haven; Sunday, December 11, at 7 pm, at the Bushnell Theater, Hartford; and Sunday, December 18, at 7 pm, at the Stamford Center for the Arts.

Tickets are $30 and $35 for most shows ($25 and $30 in Danbury), and are available through the CGMC box office at 800-644-2462, or online at www.ctgmc.org.
