Estelle L. Packer

Estelle L. (Muzin) Sternchak Packer, 90, of Newtown, beloved wife of the late Merwin L. Packer and Michael Joseph Sternchak, died November 13 in the Ashlar of Newtown Health Care Center.

Born in Bridgewater on August 15, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Jurczak) Muzin. Mrs Packer was a longtime resident of Bridgeport, Shelton, and Ansonia before moving to Florida 16 years ago. She has resided in Newtown since 1999. Mrs Packer worked as an inspector for the Remington Shaver Company of Bridgeport, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mother Cabrini Counsel of the Columbiette’s, and the Lemko Club of Ansonia.

She is survived by her devoted children, Conrad J. Sternchak and his wife, Del Rita, of Florida, Richard S. Sternchak and his wife, Marion, of Maryland, William M. Sternchak and his wife, Marlaine, of Massachusetts, and Janet Marino and her husband, Louis Gabriel Marino, of Monroe; 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands, she was predeceased by five brothers.

A Memorial Mass, meeting directly at church, will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Saturday, December 1, at 10 am. Interment Panahida Service will directly follow in Sts Peter & Paul Cemetery, Derby, with the Rev Miroslaw Jatsiv officiating.
