EverWonder Children's Museum has unveiled its calendar for April. The museum has events for the entire family.

The museum, at 31 Pecks Lane, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is $7 per person, and children under the age of 1 year old are free. Museum members are free. Parking at the museum is also free.

Please note the museum will be closed on Sunday, April 16, in observance of Easter.

The event calendar is subject to change without notice. Check everwondermuseum.org or the museum's Facebook page for calendar changes and announcements.

Story Lab For Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 to 11:00 am. This 30-minute program of STEM-themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission.

Registration for EverWonder Summer STEM Programs is now open. These summer programs are geared for children ages 5 to 11. Programming will be divided into two age categories: Young Innovators, for ages 5-7; and Junior Innovators, ages 8-11.

The programs will run for eight weeks, starting Wednesday, July 5. Each week will focus on a different STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) theme, with hands-on experiments and activities. Visit the EverWonder website for additional information and registration.

Special Activities

The following events are ongoing during regular museum hours unless otherwise noted.

Saturday, April 1 - EverWonder's Anniversary Party.

Celebrate EverWonder's second anniversary by joining members and staff for Eat-A-Bug, face painting, temporary tattoos, and science demos. The Decadent Dog Food Truck will be set up in the parking lot.

Members will be entered into a $50-off birthday party raffle.

Wednesday, April 5 - Science Lab: Rain in a Jar.

Children will learn about clouds and rain through using a sponge to represent a cloud. Children will be given a jar, a sponge, water, and food coloring in order to conduct this experiment.

Wednesday, April 12 - Science Lab: Rainbow Butterfly Symmetry.

Beginning at noon, children will paint half of a paper butterfly, and then fold it in half to create symmetrical patterns. In this activity, children will learn about patterns, symmetry, and lines of symmetry.

Saturday, April 15 - Easter Egg Hunt.

EverWonder's favorite spring activity is returning Easter weekend. Egg drops will happen on the hour while supplies last.

Wednesday, April 19 - Science Lab: Paper Airplanes.

Who can design and build the fastest airplane? Children will design various types of paper airplanes and see which design will fly the farthest. They will learn about aerodynamics and engineering in this activity.

Saturday, April 22 - Earth Day: Recycled Bird Feeders.

Help protect the environment on Earth Day. Guests will make a recycled bird feeder out of a cardboard tube, Crisco, and birdseed.

EverWonder will also be giving away 50 white birch trees in honor of Earth Day (first come, first served).

Wednesday, April 26 - Science Lab: Pinwheels.

Children will create their own pinwheel while learning about the concepts of energy, power, forces, and simple machines.

Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children's Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children's Museum, Inc) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations.
