HARTFORD’S MARK TWAIN HOUSE OFFERS FAMILIES A VALENTINE PROGRAM w/ 1 CUT

SK/mk set 1/17 #381513

HARTFORD, CONN. — The Mark Twain House will host a Valentine program for families on Saturday, February 2, when Mark Twain and his wife, Livy, portrayed by actors John Pogson and Lisa Steier, will conduct personalized tours of the house for children 7 to 12 years old and their caregivers. Valentine activities will follow the tours.

The performers will use excerpts from Twain’s letters to describe family life in the 19-room mansion that was the author’s home from 1874 to 1891, years he described as the happiest of his life. During this productive period, Twain published such classics as The Adventure of Tom Sawyer, The Prince and the Pauper and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

After the tour, program participants will make Victorian Valentines and will also share refreshments with the actors in the carriage house behind The Mark Twain House. Sessions of the family Valentine program are scheduled from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm, and 12:30 to 2:15 pm, Saturday, February 2.

For reservations, call 860-247-0998, extension 23. For information, visit  MarkTwain House.org. The Mark Twain House National Historic Landmark is at 351 Farming-ton Avenue at Exit 46, Sisson Avenue, off Interstate 84 (East or West).
