Francis Forno Named River Glen Medical Director

SOUTHBURY — River Glen Health Care Center of Southbury recently announced that Dr Francis J. Forno was named the facility’s new medical director.

One of the few physicians in the greater Danbury area that practices family medicine, Dr Forno also has a private practice at 172 Mount Pleasant Road in Newtown.

A member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Medical Association, Dr Forno graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, the oldest private osteopathic medical school in the nation, in 1995.

A 1974 graduate of Newtown High School, Dr Forno and his wife Kate moved back to Newtown after completing a family residency at the Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, N.Y., and providing family medical care at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, N.Y.

Dr Forno succeeds the late Dr Marc J. Taylor who served as the medical director at River Glen for the past 15 years. Dr Forno served as the assistant medical director alongside Dr Taylor at River Glen for the past ten years.

“I’m proud to be associated with a facility that has such a strong reputation in the community,” said Dr Forno. “River Glen is known as one of the top skilled nursing facilities in the state. The level of care that they offer each and every day is impressive. I’m glad that I can continue to be a big part of it.”

River Glen Health Care Center specializes in post-acute specialty services and long-term living. Administrator Mary Noonan said Dr Forno “is a wonderful ambassador for our facility and the entire community.”

Recently named in US News and World Report as “one of America’s Best Nursing Homes,” River Glen Health Care Center accepts most managed care, private pay, and state funded programs.
