The Garden Club of Newtown is planning its annual fundraiser — the Holiday Greens & Gifts Sale — for Saturday, December 1, from 9 am to 2 pm. It will again be presented at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

The Greens Sale features wreaths and door swags, which are made from local evergreens, freshly arranged and decorated by club members.

Members also create boxwood trees, kissing balls, and yard decorations that typically sell out within the first hour of the annual event. Also, hand-painted ornaments, wooden snowmen and birdhouses, along with snowflake, star, and burlap ornaments are available for purchase.

Bags of local greens from the gardens of members are also ready for those would like to decorate their homes for the holidays.

This year, the club is proud to host Nora Murphy, well-known local author of her new book, Country House Style, which showcases her unique approach to home decoration using natural items and the development of the reader’s own individual style. Ms Murphy will be signing copies of her new release for garden club shoppers from 9 until approximately 11 am that morning.

The Holiday Greens & Gifts sale is the major fundraiser for The Garden Club of Newtown. It enables the club to maintain The Blue Star Memorial and three other gardens in town as well as contributing funds to FAITH Food Pantry, Newtown Scholarship Association, The Newtown Fund, and Newtown Forest Association.
