Gay Uhde passed away March 11, 2019, a year and four days after her husband, Bill Uhde, passed in March 7, 2018.

Married 56 years and longtime residents of Sandy Hook, they are survived by their children, William (Peggy) Uhde of Newtown, Melissa (Ron) Malone of Ocala, Fla., Steven (Linda) Uhde of Sandy Hook; and their five grandsons, their pride and joy. Bill is survived by his sister, Cathy (Mohammed) Uhde; and Gay is survived by her siblings, June (Ray) Sanderson, Fredrick (Colleen) Schramm, and Betty (Bob) Schramm-Strosser.

Gay passed away at the age of 79. Born in Connecticut to Frank and Ellen Schramm, Gay graduated from New York’s Queens College and went on to become a successful florist, owning and operating The Arrangement in Sandy Hook. She later went on to volunteer in the St Petersburg School system and become a System Operator for UUNET.

Bill passed away at the age of 80. Born in New York to Wilhelm and Kathe Uhde, he graduated from NYU with a degree in mechanical engineering. In his engineering career, Bill worked for Sperry, UAS, Unimation, and FANUC, among many other leading engineering firms in St Charles, Ill., and St Petersburg, Fla.

Bill’s vast career included developing navigation system for submarines and airplanes. Bill made a name for himself as an engineer in the robotics industry, where he was awarded several patents. He was most noted for his contributions to several Engineering Publications.

Gay and Bill took great pride and joy tending to their award-winning gardens. Both were among founding members of Prince of Peace Church in Brookfield, and they helped design the church. Gay was an active member of the Brookfield Garden Club and Friends of the C.H. Booth Library. Bill had a passion for trains and designing model railroads. They will be sorely missed by all, and they are forever in our hearts.
