Genealogy Meeting Focuses On

Lithuanian Family Research

The Naugatuck Valley Community College Genealogy Club will focus on Lithuanian genealogy in its monthly meeting on November 10, at 1 pm in Kinney Hall, Room K-715, at the college, located on Chase Parkway, Waterbury. The public is invited to attend.

Barbara Plungis-Shupenis of Bethlehem will be the guest speaker. She has been doing research on eight Lithuanian family lines for 12 years and has visited Lithuania twice. She will discuss her experiences in Lithuanian genealogical research, including the use of resources such as the Lithuanian State Historical Archives in Vilnius. Though the focus is on Lithuania, the presentation should be of interest to others doing research in former Soviet-dominated countries. The speaker is also a member of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists.

The Naugatuck Valley Community College Genealogy Club was formed in 1998 and attracts members and visitors from a wide area, including Fairfield and Litchfield counties.
