George Allen Scott, 78, of Maine died unexpectedly April 12, at his residence. He was born May 25, 1939 in Newtown, a son of Helen (Sedor) and Samuel Scott. He served in the US Army for four years and was stationed in France for three of those years.

Mr Scott was known by many for his quick wit and always seemed to know when someone needed a laugh. He loved spending time with his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a past vice president of the Bluegrass Association of Maine.

His two daughters, Sandra and husband Dave Blake of Dexter, Maine, and Kathy Scott of Cambridge, Maine; a brother, Sam Scott of Connecticut; grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Nicole "Shortstack" and husband Gary of Birch Harbor, Maine, Matthew "Boots," Christine "Shoes," and Geneva, all of Dexter, Maine; and a great-granddaughter, whom he loved to the moon and back, survive him.

His wife, Gale, and a sister, Nancy, predeceased him.

A memorial service will be at 4 pm Saturday, April 28, at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 59 Main Street, Dexter, with Pastor George Dever officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Dexter.

Those who wish may leave written tributes at crosbyneal.com.
