Gerald H. Manion, Sr

Gerald H. Manion, Sr, 81, of Grassy Plain Street, Bethel, died December 29 at Danbury Hospital.  He was the husband of Susan (Lariccia) Manion.

He was the father of Gerald H. Manion, Jr, of Sandy Hook and Stephen P. Manion of Newtown.

Mr Manion was born in Danbury, August 29, 1918, a son of the late William S. and Anna (O’Flaherty) Manion.  He was a Bethel resident all his life and was a 1936 graduate of Bethel High School.  He worked at Castro Convertible in Danbury for many years and later retired after working for the Town of Bethel.  He was member of the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department and St Mary Church in Bethel.

Besides his wife and sons, Mr Manion is survived by a sister, Mary M. Morgan of Bethel, and two grandchildren, Patrick W. and Laurie K. Manion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897-2523.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary Church, Bethel, Friday, December 31 at 10 am.  Burial will be in St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

The Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel is handling arrangements.
