Members of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue (SHVFR) Ladies Auxiliary will be presenting their annual Mother's Day Flower Sale this weekend.

The women will be offering flowers, potted plants, and hanging baskets at the SHVFR main station, 18-20 Riverside Road. The sale will run Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, 10 am to 6 pm both days, or while supplies last.

Shoppers who arrive with a donation for FAITH Food Pantry will be entered into a raffle for a Mother's Day basket.

The following weekend, the auxiliary will be hosting a paper shredding event, which will also serve as a fundraiser for the support organization. That special event will also take place at the Riverside Road firehouse. It will be Saturday, May 19, from 9 am until noon.

The public is invited to take file boxes or paper shopping bags filled with paper that they would like to have shredded. A professional company will securely shred confidential files on site that morning.

Both events are fundraisers for the auxiliary, which serves as the support group for the volunteer fire company. Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary, a not-for-profit group that supports the fire company and other local organizations during the year.

Members of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Ladies Auxiliary stepped outside prior to their May 8 meeting to check the setting for the second annual fundraiser in as many months. This weekend, the tent frames will have their covers, and the women will be offering flowers, potted plants, and hanging baskets at the SHVFR main station, 18-20 Riverside Road.
