STAMP COLLECTING FESTIVAL WILL OPEN OCT 14 IN NORTH HAVEN, CONN.

NORTH HAVEN, CONN. — October is National Stamp Collecting Month, and the Connecticut Stamp Collecting Festival will once again conduct one of the largest stamp collecting events in the state. The show will be Sunday, October 14, at the North Haven Holiday Inn from 10 am to 4 pm; parking and admission are free.

As America’s longest running monthly stamp and cover show, the Connecticut Festival draws collectors from throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

At the October 14 show, 40 dealer tables will be filled with stamps, covers (as collectors call old envelopes), and postcards “from just about every country there is or ever was.” Participating dealers also will be able to provide collectors with advice on buying, selling or caring for a collection.

Visitors to the show will find material offered and on display that dates back from early Nineteenth Century stampless covers (primarily used before the introduction of postage stamps in Britain in 1840 and the United States in 1847) right on up to the newest issues from around the world.
