LOUISVILLE, KY. — The Speed Art Museum will showcase images that changed the way people view the world. With more than 200 iconic works drawn from the renowned collections of the George Eastman House, this exhibition explores photography from 1839 daguerreotypes to September 11, 2001. On display, June 19–September 16, the exhibition will also include restored and archived film clips from before 1923.

“The Best of Photography and Film from George Eastman House Collection” was organized by George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film.

Visitors will see some of this country’s most important images, including Matthew Brady’s photographs of Abraham Lincoln, Robert Capa’s “D-Day, Omaha Beach” and Dorthea Lange’s “Migrant Mother.” The exhibition also includes some of the most stunning images ever captured on film by prominent photographers Ansel Adams, Alfred Stieglitz, Diane Arbus, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Margaret Bourke-White, Edward Weston and many others.

The film component of the exhibition includes film clips, celebrity portraits, motion picture stills, lobby cards and movie posters.
