'Heart And Home, Prints And Paintings' At Booth Library This Month; Printmaking Workshop Also Planned

C.H. Booth Public Library will host "Heart and Home, Prints and Paintings," a solo exhibition to feature works by the Newtown artist Roberta Shea during the month of September.The Affair.chbprograms@chboothlibrary.org.

Ms Shea's most recent prints and paintings will be on display in the lower meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street. The collection will focus on landscapes of Newtown and images adapted from her artist retreat experiences last summer in Ireland at the restored ruins of a pre-famine village, Cill Rialaig, in County Kerry.

All are invited to meet Ms Shea during a reception on Sunday, September 11, at 1 pm, when she will also share stories about her personal artist's journey.

A long-term resident of Newtown and graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, Ms Shea has taught art at Masuk High School in Monroe, worked in market research, and is currently a docent at New Britain Museum of American Art.

She has also exhibited in numerous group shows throughout Connecticut and New Hampshire, including at The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury and at Cartus Corporation in Danbury, Her work has also been featured in a recent television series,

Ms Shea continues to be an active member of both The Society of Creative Arts in Newtown (SCAN) and Washington Arts Association in Washington Depot.

This exhibition can be viewed during regular library hours, when the meeting room is not in use: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am-8 pm; Friday, 11 am-5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm; and Sunday (after September 11), 12-5 pm.

In conjunction with the presentation of "Heart and Home, Prints and Paintings," Ms Shea will lead a free adult workshop on Thursday, September 15, at 7 pm. During the 90-minute program, Ms Shea will discuss printmaking, its processes, and the enjoyment it produces.

"Remembering Kerry" is a 30 by 48-inch oil on canvas by Roberta Shea, a Newtown artist who will be offering a collection of recent landscapes adapted from an artist's retreat in Ireland last summer. Ms Shea will also be leading a free monotype printing workshop to coincide with her exhibition this month.
