Helen Murtagh

Helen (McKeefrey) Murtagh, 78, wife of the late Thomas Murtagh, formerly of Ridgefield and Newtown, died at Rhode Island Hospital on July 28.

Mrs Murtagh was born in Brooklyn on June 1, 1925, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Leheny) McKeefrey. She grew up in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn schools. She moved to Connecticut in the 1950s, residing in Newtown and Ridgefield, before moving to Rhode Island in 1983.

Mrs Murtagh is survived by three sons, Thomas, Christopher, and Vincent Murtagh, all of Providence, R.I.; a daughter, Michele Murtagh of Stamford; two sisters, Irene Reddy of New Hampshire, and Claire Britz of Queens, N.Y.; a brother Joseph McKeefrey of Missouri; a cousin, Joan Ginty of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 1, at 10 am, at St Peter Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St Peter Cemetery.

Calling hours were scheduled at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Thursday, July 31, from 5 to 8 pm.

The Green Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
