All town offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The transfer station at 4 Ethan Allen Road will be closed both days; it will reopen on Saturday on its regular schedule (7 am to 3 pm).

Newtown Senior Center and Cyrenius H. Booth Library will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The senior center will reopen on Monday at 8 am, and the town library will reopen on Saturday at 9:30 am.

Schools also will be closed Thursday and Friday. Public schools will have early dismissal on Wednesday, November 25.

The United States Postal Service will not be making deliveries on Thursday.

The offices of The Newtown Bee will be closed on Thursday and Friday. We will reopen at 8 am Monday, November 27.

The print edition of November 24, 2017, will be printed and mailed the afternoon of Wednesday, November 22. Because of this, many of the paper's deadlines will be 24 hours earlier than usual.

All editorial deadlines will be one business day earlier than usual.

Letters to the editor must be received no later than 3 pm on Tuesday, November 21, for publication in the November 24 print edition of the paper. Obituaries must be received by 9 am Wednesday.
