How To Grow Your Business

DANBURY — NewMil Bank and SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) will host a free seminar for small businesses, “How to Grow Your Business,” on Saturday, September 15, from 8:30 am to noon at the Ancell School of Business on the Westside Campus of Western Connecticut State University.

The event is being offered to help businesses grow and increase their bottom line. Topics will include a review of various advertising techniques, including using the Internet, and how to expand businesses through acquisition. Also on the agenda will be the importance of a business plan and how to develop and finance a business.

“We feel this program will be important for small business with the economic environment being what it is. Our hope is that it will help a company become more competitive,” said SCORE counselor Bill Riha. “Frankly, many small business people don’t know how to take advantage of things like the Internet and need to develop skills to advertise more effectively. This will help them grow and increase their business. SCORE has worked with NewMil Bank several times in this capacity and we view this as a guide to light the road.”

Bill Starbuck, senior vice president of NewMil Bank, will be a featured speaker at the seminar. He has extensive experience in commercial lending and, more specifically, in making SBA loans. NewMil Bank is the seventh largest SBA lender in Connecticut and the only community bank in the state to earn the SBA Preferred Lender status.
