Jane Cataldo of Southbury, 93, died May 15, with her granddaughter Alyssa at her bedside. She was born in New Brunswick, N.J., and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Adelphi College and a master’s degree in elementary education from New Paltz State University in New York. 

She taught in Union Free School District #5 in Levittown, N.Y., for 28 years. 

After retiring, she and her husband, the late Joseph Cataldo, relocated to Southbury and joined Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury. Mrs Cataldo worked part-time as a proofreader at The Newtown Bee. She loved tennis, golf, playing cards, reading, doing The New York Times crossword puzzle, bowling, gardening, and most of all, being with her loved family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children and their spouses Michael and Fran Masterson, Susan and Michael Forrest, and Cathy and David Ford; four granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs Cataldo also leaves behind her cherished cat, Missy.

There will be a private service for the immediate family.
