The Junior Newtown Action Alliance (JR NAA), which is a part of the Newtown Action Alliance (NAA), has set a “Letter Writing Frenzy” event for Friday, May 24, from 7 pm to 8 pm, in the Newtown High School cafetorium.

The NAA is a group working to reduce gun violence through legislative and cultural means, and the JR NAA works to involve young people in the movement.

The Letter Writing Frenzy is open to all people who wish to attend, and those attending will contact legislators around the country simultaneously by letter or phone on the issue of gun safety legislation, according to JR NAA head Sarah Clements.

Seasoned writers will be on hand to help those writing or calling for the first time. Sarah said the group will welcome young and old attendees, and each person is asked to bring their own laptop, tablet, cellphone, pen, and paper to participate in the event.

A bake sale and a kids table, to keep children engaged during the event, will be available.
