Ruth Mary (Steer) Campbell, 85, of Newtown, died May 8, at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was born March 12, 1928, in Kent, England, to Gertrude May and James Steer. 

When she was 7 months old, her family moved to Dublin, Ireland, where she lived until her marriage to C. Peter Campbell on November 22, 1951.

In 1955, the Campbells moved to Milford, where they lived for more than 50 years. In 2010, Mrs Campbell moved to Newtown, where she lived at Nunnawauk Meadows, near her second cousins and caregivers, Susan and Kevin Corey.

Mrs Campbell was an accomplished dressmaker.

A niece and a nephew, as well as several second cousins, survive Mrs Campbell. Her husband Peter died in July of 2006. They had one son, Trevor, who predeceased her. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, May 15, at 10 am, at St Gabriel’s Church, Milford. Burial will be private and there will be no calling hours. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford.
