Since last year when Ingersoll Automotive of Danbury began a program designed to give back to the community during the holiday season, roughly 115 laptops have been donated to area high schools.

On Monday, November 18, Todd Ingersoll, president of Ingersoll Automotive of Danbury, stopped by Newtown High School to donate ten laptops that will be used by students who otherwise would not have access to the technology.

This is the second year Ingersoll Automotive of Danbury has donated laptops to NHS and other area high schools. In 2012 it donated ten laptops to NHS, which NHS Principal Charles Dumais said on Monday have been helpful in furthering educational options for students.

The program began two years ago when Ingersoll Automotive donated two laptops to Bethel High School. One of the students who received a laptop that year in turn gave it to a friend in need of the technology, and the friend said the gift changed his life, according to Mr Ingersoll.

When he learned of the how the Bethel student had been impacted by the laptop, Mr Ingersoll said he knew that was how the dealership would give back to the community in the future.

Each of the new Toshiba laptops are decorated with an Ingersoll Automotive logo and design.
