James H. "Pop-pop" "Jim" Martin, 88, died peacefully April 3, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Massena, N.Y. on May 12, 1929. He was a former longtime resident of Sandy Hook and the husband to late wife Myrt Armstrong Martin.

His loving wife, Jane Parisian Brannen Martin of Massena; six children and their spouses, Todd and Annie Martin of Sandy Hook, Sandy Rivett of Uxbridge, Mass., James R. A. and Lori Martin of Huntington, Vt., Debra and Greg Ritchie of Stamford, Danny and Dora Martin of New Port Richie, Fla., and David Martin of Channel Islands, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Cary, Brandon, Taylor, Sean, Dillon, Devon, Nikolette, Amy, and Scott; one great-grandchild; two stepdaughters, Wanda Flynn and Dureen LaDuke and her husband Gary; and his brother, Richard Martin, survive him.

Mr Martin will always be remembered by those who knew him for his big smile, contagious laugh, generous soul, and commitment to family. Some of his favorite moments were spent outdoors golfing, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 8 pm at 26 Bridge End Farm Lane, Sandy Hook, as an opportunity to share stories and remember his life that his loved ones say was lived to the fullest.
