Continue At The Homesteads  

The Homesteads at Newtown will host presenting the final performance in its 3rd Annual Summer Concert Series next week. The series has been offering music for every taste, with dancing encouraged during most performances.

Dancing will be under the stars in The Homesteads’ lovely main courtyard (or in the dramatic Panoramic Dining Room in the event of rain). Scrumptious refreshments and seating are provided. 

Admission is free.

The 2004 series will conclude on Tuesday, August 31, with a performance by The Jeff McGill Quartet. This group offers the velvet virtuosity of pianist Jeff McGill with his incomparable ensemble. Dancing will also be encouraged for final concert.

The Jeff McGill Group has made festival appearances alongside internationally known artists including Chick Corea, The Artie Shaw Orchestra, Herbie Mann, and Pieces of A Dream. Upon catching an appearing by the group at New York’s legendary Birdland, music critic Richmond Shepard wrote: “The four men in McGill’s very hot quartet all have musical mastery, innovative imaginations, and tune into each other beautifully.”

The Jeff McGill Group’s music spans a number of jazz styles, from swing and bebop to Latin, contemporary, fusion and blues.

Mr McGill’s first recording, Live at The Gallery, established his group on the tri-state jazz scenes, where is soon received critical acclaim for its dynamic club and concert performances. In addition to Mr McGill on piano the group’s members are drummer Tom Devino, Lou Pappas on bass, and special guest Ken Gioffre on saxophone.
