Joan M. “Jini” (Moran) Schneider, 78, of Sandy Hook, beloved wife of Ronald J. Schneider, died peacefully October 6. She was born in Bridgeport, March 21, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Eileen and Michael Moran.

She graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1957. Mrs Schneider worked for 20-plus years at the Newtown High School nurse’s office.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, her sons, David of Easton and Michael and his wife, Hilary, of Brunswick, Maine; her grandchildren, Kaden and Eli; and several beloved nieces and nephews survive her.

Her three brothers, Jack Moran, Edward Moran, Donald Moran; and her sister, Marjorie Michalek, predeceased her.

Mrs Schneider was known as an extremely caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family. She cherished time spent with her loved ones, especially her two grandsons, who brought her immense joy. She was also a staple in the neighborhood, enjoying early morning walks daily with her good friends.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 10, from 4 to 7 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral Thursday, October 11, at 11 am, in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
