John J. Bojnowski, 43, passed away in his home in Albany, N.Y., on February 27, 2019.

Mr Bojnowski was preceded in death by his brother, Chad.

Mr Bojnowski is survived by his 6-year-old son, Caleb, of Albany; his parents, Joe and Jane Bojnowski of Newtown; his brother, Perry James and wife, Deirdre, of Brewster, N.Y.; his sister, Wendy Bojnowski and partner, Aaron Thomas, of Atlanta, Ga.; his sister, Laura Ryan and husband, Bob, of San Francisco, Calif.; and his 14 nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating John’s life was held in Troy, N.Y., on March 6, 2019. Many family and friends attended the service and luncheon afterwards.

Mr Bojnowski attended the Newtown school system and graduated high school from the Marine Military Academy in Texas. He was a member of the Connecticut and the New Jersey National Guard. He graduated from Rutgers University with a major in biology and a master’s in education management from the State University of New York, Albany. He was employed by the Department of Education, State of New York, and was a liaison between the Department of Education and the State Legislature.

John was an active member of the Albany Presbyterian Church. His hobby and passion was cooking. He helped provide many meals for the homeless and less fortunate. He mentored young people at the church and was active in a number of other charities. He was fun to be around and had an energy that infected all who knew him.

A service of remembrance will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in the late Spring.
