Joseph     Fetchick, Sr

Joseph “Joe” Fetchick, Sr, 80, of Newtown, husband of the late Eleanor Fetchick, died peacefully, August 16, due to complications following a fall. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., September 22, 1931, to Eva and Andrew Fetchick.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Over the years Mr Fetchick worked for United Graphite, American Cyanamid, AMF, ICI, US Polymer, and Phase 1 Separations, before retiring in the mid 1990s.

The Fetchicks and their family lived for more than 45 years in Norwalk, before retiring to Newtown.

He was an avid, lifelong golfer who passed that love on to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also lived for UConn basketball, a love passed to him by his children.

While his Parkinson’s disease made it difficult for him to shuffle and deal, Mr Fetchick was quite a card shark. He preferred gin rummy, and usually won.

His sons Joseph, Jr, Drew, and Jeffrey, and daughter Michelle; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister Helen Pyrtej survive Mr Fetchick. Three brothers, Andrew, John, and Michael, and his parents predeceased Mr Fetchick.

He is missed already, by those who knew him. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Masonicare Hospice for their support in his final days.

A memorial service took place August 26.

Memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association at ctapda.org.

Online condolences may be left at www.yourtribute.com.
