Joseph R. Franzino

Joseph R. Franzino, 86, of Heritage Village, died unexpectedly, September 2, at his home. He was born December 22, 1926, in Bridgeport, son of Giustina (Favaro) and Giovanni Franzino. He was the husband of Arline (Rojas) Franzino.

Besides his loving wife of 62 years, he leaves his three sons, Gregg A. Franzino, and his wife Cindy, of Sandy Hook, Dr Ronald J. Franzino, and his wife Marie, of Putnam, and Joseph J. Franzino, and his wife Dorota, of Redding; five grandchildren; three brothers, John Franzino of Louisiana, Peter Franzino of Florida, and Justin Franzino of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr Franzino was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.

He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Bridgeport. He worked with computers his entire career, including Sikorsky Aircraft, and retiring from Service Merchandise.

In Heritage Village he was a founder of the computer club and was a member of the Italian Renaissance Club. He enjoyed the theater and dancing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, September 6, at 11 am, in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Calling hours are Thursday evening, September 5, from 6 to 8 pm, and Friday morning from 9:30 am until 10:45 am, in the daily chapel of Sacred Heart Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.
