Julius R. Kovacs

Julius R. Kovacs, 82, died March 28, at his home in Summit, N.Y., with his family at his side. Born September 8, 1931, in Newtown, to Veronica (Balsan) and Paul Kovacs, he was a resident of Newtown until age 30. Mr Kovacs was a former resident of Danbury and Woodbury, as well.

Mable (McGurn) Kovacs, his loving wife of 52 years; two daughters, Donna Kovacs and  Sandra Dock, and  her husband Richard, all of Southbury; his brother Stephen Kovacs of Danbury and his sister Velma Kovacs of Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Kovacs. He is remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. 

The Kovacs retired to Middleburgh, N.Y., 11 years ago, and moved to their mountaintop home in Summit five years ago.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, April 5, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, N.Y. Visitation will be at 10 am, with the service starting at 11 am. Officiating will be Pastor Jan Benson of the Summit United Methodist Church. Inurnment, with full military honors, will be at St Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Sandy Hook, at a later date.
