Junior Girl Scout Troop 50843, fourth grade students from Sandy Hook School, went on a field trip to the Bent of the River Audubon Society in Southbury on Wednesday, November 19. While there troop members completed requirements for their Wildlife Badge with help from Ken Elkins, education program manager. This included learning about local animals, learning how to use binoculars, and how to avoid local poisonous plants, such as poison ivy. The girls were also brought on a short hike where they used binoculars to view and identify local birds. The troop includes Amelia Schill, Jillian Milano, Allie Muzzio, Emma Sheridan, Ashleigh Shaw, Haley Dickenson, Lizzy Delp, Natalie Young, Caitlin White, and Caroline Daria.

Girl Scout Troop 50628, second grade students from Sandy Hook School, had an outing to Blue Jay Orchards recently. While there the girls were part of the Juliette Gordon Lowe Birthday Bash, which was in celebration of the birthday of the founder of Girl Scouts.
