Katherine Marie Colgan, 93, of Southbury, died December 18, in Bethel, following a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Limestone, Maine, June 8, 1925, and was the daughter of Earl Sylvester and Amanda Matilda (Hendricksen) Fitzsimmons.

Mrs Colgan had been a resident of Newtown and Southbury for many years and was a retired psychiatric nurse from Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown.

Two sons, Joseph Barkasy and Fred Colgan, both of Southbury; one grandson, Christopher Barkasy of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Her daughter, Patricia Myers of Branford; five brothers, James, Floyd, Herbert, Ervin, and Harold Fitzsimmons; and six sisters, Beatrice Whipple, Margaret Morrell, Evelyn Brown, Gretchen McGinn, Ida Mae Walters Willis, and Donna Brown, predeceased her.

Mrs Colgan was the last of the surviving child of the Fitzsimmons Family.

Friends will gather Sunday, January 6, from 2 to 4 pm, at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Southbury.
