Treadwell Park was bustling with energetic lacrosse players throughout the day, on May 30. The park’s three fields – the Treadwell turf, grass, and Tilson surfaces – hosted the tenth annual Rooster Rumble, a lacrosse tournament for girls in grades seven and eight.

Teams from as far away as West Hartford, Cheshire, Southington, Darien, and Weston, and as nearby as Trumbull, Easton, and Redding, came to town for round-robin pool play and participated in a minimum of four games. Newtown fielded a trio of the 20 squads in the event.

Newtown High School lacrosse players volunteered at the Rooster Rumble. They helped Joe Carrino, vice president of the Newtown Lacrosse girls’ program, as well as other organizers, to keep things running smoothly as the contests unfolded. For more coverage of the event, check out the June 5 print edition of The Bee.
