Liljan B. Minck, 93, of Newtown, died September 4, at home in her sleep. Born August 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Bergliot Korswold, the sister of the late Norman Korswold, and the widow of the late Albert E. Minck, Jr.

She taught fifth grade at Morris Street School for several decades.

An avid perennial flower gardener, Mrs Minck belonged to various area garden clubs through the years. As a Bradenton, Fla., snow bird, she was a strong supporter of the Sarasota Opera. She was an accomplished artist, painting mostly in traditional oils. She obtained her master’s degree studying and writing about the Norwegian forming school system. She fancied Victorian décor, collected chinaware, and cherished every book by or about Agatha Christie that she ever encountered.

Her children and their spouses, Eric and Sandy Minck of Southbury and Valerie and Cliff Ingham of Newtown; her granddaughters, Sara Minck and her husband, Chris Baxter, of Oxford and Olivia Ingham of Newtown; and a great-grandson survive her.

A small, family memorial service will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the emergency medical services of Newtown, which her loved ones say assisted her wonderfully. The family is also deeply grateful for the dedication of Mrs Minck’s caregiver, Joan Fisher.

Arrangements are being handled by the Honan Funeral Home in Newtown.
