Over 4,000 tickets have been given to the town by the New York Yankees for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Many families who had originally requested tickets are now unable to use tickets, so there have been some returns.

Tickets will be available first-come, first-served, on Wednesday, July 3, between 2 and 4 pm only. They will be handed out at Newtown Municipal Center.

There are approximately two dozen tickets available as of Monday, July 1, primarily two- and four-seat groupings. The number of available tickets has been changing, however, so there may be more available later this week.

No phones calls or emails will be accepted. Residents must visit the municipal center, during the assigned times only, to pick up tickets. Bring a photo ID or other proof of residency.

Meanwhile, any additional residents who find they are not going to be able to use tickets they requested last month for Newtown Day are also asked to visit the municipal center on Wednesday afternoon. Please notify volunteers upon arrival that you are there to return unwanted tickets.

Please note, ticket-holders are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Bronx for Sunday’s game. First pitch will be at 1:05.

A very limited number of Yankess tickets for Sunday, July 7 — a/k/a/ Newtown Day — have become available. Volunteers will be distributing tickets during a two-hour window on Wednesday, July 3. Residents who have tickets they will not be using are also asked to consider returning them at that time so that others may take advantage of the special offer.
